Health Guarantee
At Koa Kennels, we take the health and well-being of our dogs and puppies seriously. Before breeding, we conduct thorough health testing to ensure the highest quality of care for our animals. For the Labrador Retriever as a breed, health guarantees promote better breeding standards, reduce the risk of passing on harmful conditions, and help maintain the long-term health of the breed. It also offers buyers peace of mind, knowing their new companion comes from a responsible breeding program focused on health and longevity. Learn more about our health guarantee and breeding qualifications below.
Our Labradors are meticulously bred to ensure their puppies are not affected by Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA), Progressive Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRCD), Centronuclear Myopathy (CNM), Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC), Hereditary Nasal Parakeratosis (HNPK), Skeletal Dysplasia 2 (Dwarfism SD2), and Congenital Myasthenic Syndrome (CMS).
Additionally, the hip and elbow health of our puppies is guaranteed to meet or exceed the standards set by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA), with passing scores for normal elbows and hips rated as fair, good, or excellent, for a period of up to 26 months. Their ocular health is also assured, with a guarantee to pass a Canine Eye Registry Foundation (CERF) examination within the same 26-month timeframe. Should any puppy fail to meet these health guarantees, we kindly request that you inform us promptly. In such cases, we will provide an equivalent credited value (Never Expires) towards another puppy or started dog.
To qualify for the guarantee: The dog must be in possession of its original owner, must not exhibit related disorders caused by trauma or accident, must not have been bred, be kept in healthy living conditions, not neglected, be examined by a certified veterinarian, ophthalmologist, or DNA interpretation lab, and must not have been neutered prior to 24 months of age, or spayed prior to first heat cycle. We do not require you to return the dog for the health guarantee to be effective.
Koa Kennels is not responsible for veterinary fees after puppy pickup day without an agreement.
